Digital Mappa has been made possible by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies, the British Library, Drew University, UW-Madison’s Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, and UW-Madison’s English Department. The project is dedicated to every institution that is making its digital holdings freely available to all – the next generation of Humanities scholarship cannot happen without you.

Adding Primary Documents
Primary documents are images or texts which will be included in a project's Table of Contents. In DM 2.0, images are always primary documents, but texts may be primary documents or annotations on one or more highlights.
Adding Text Documents:
  1. Selecting “Text” from the “New Item” menu will open a new text document in the project workspace to the right. A corresponding item will appear at the top of the project Table of Contents.
  2. Rename the file by selecting “Untitled Document” at the top of the document and typing in the new title.
  3. Type or paste text into the body of the new text document.
Adding Image Documents:
  1. Selecting “Image” from the “New Item” menu will open a new image document in the project workspace to the right. A corresponding item will appear at the top of the Table of Contents.

  2. Rename the document by selecting “Untitled Image” at the top of the document and typing in the new title.

  3. There are three options for adding images to the files:

Uploading from your Computer
Clicking “Upload from Computer” will allow you to select an image file stored in your local file directories.
Linking to the Web
Clicking “Link to Web” will allow you to link to an image located online on the web at a specific URL address.
