Digital Mappa has been made possible by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies, the British Library, Drew University, UW-Madison’s Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, and UW-Madison’s English Department. The project is dedicated to every institution that is making its digital holdings freely available to all – the next generation of Humanities scholarship cannot happen without you.

Creating Annotations

Creating an annotation on a highlight:
  1. Click to select a highlight using the “hand” tool on the toolbar to open the highlight window.

  2. Click the “Add Annotation” button at the bottom of the highlight window.

  3. A new and blank text document will open next to the document you are editing; this document will not be a primary document, so it will not appear in the table of contents primary document manager.

  4. You can change the title of this annotation document, and this will be reflected in the highlight window.

Creating an annotation on an entire document using the corner document icon:

  1. Click to select the top left corner document icon to open the document highlight window.

  2. Click the “Add Annotation” button at the bottom of the highlight window.
