Digital Mappa has been made possible by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies, the British Library, Drew University, UW-Madison’s Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, and UW-Madison’s English Department. The project is dedicated to every institution that is making its digital holdings freely available to all – the next generation of Humanities scholarship cannot happen without you.

Setting up your own DM server

"some assembly required"

DM 2.0 is a single page React application backed by a Ruby on Rails server running a Postgres database. It uses ActiveStorage for image uploads and ImageMagick for image processing. It has out the box support for storing images either on Amazon S3 or on the local disk. It also utilizes the SendGrid service for outbound SMTP. It has been developed within the Heroku (heroku.com) environment but has no Heroku specific dependencies. Instructions for installing DM 2.0 on both Heroku or local servers may be found on the DM 2.0 GitHub page, along with issue tracking and new releases: COMING SOON.
