Digital Mappa has been made possible by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies, the British Library, Drew University, UW-Madison’s Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, and UW-Madison’s English Department. The project is dedicated to every institution that is making its digital holdings freely available to all – the next generation of Humanities scholarship cannot happen without you.

Text Formatting and Editing

DM features an array of familiar text formatting tools. At the top of a text document you can use your cursor to select a string of text and click to perform one of the Bold, Italics, or Underline functions:

You can also add bullet points or numbering to lists of text using the corresponding buttons at the top of a text document:

You can change the size of text by selecting from the dropdown menu defaultly titled “Normal” at the top of the document. You can choose from four sizes (Small, Normal, Large, and Huge):

DM 2.0 supports different fonts, text sizes, and headings pasted in from other text editor programs, and supports most Unicode text characters. Note that copying and pasting text from file to file inside a DM project will also preserve formatting unless the text you are pasting contains DM highlights.
