You can hide and reveal highlights on both text and image documents using the toggling off/on "eye" icon tool in the top-right of the document window. When highlights are hidden, you can see the "eye" icon includes a strike-through. To reveal hidden highlights, click the icon to toggle highlights off/on.

New for v 2.0.4.1: you can now also toggle highlights on texts as well as images.
